Larry's Story
Life
Spent the first 17 years of my life in South Dakota. After the death of my father, shortly after my 17th birthday, I enlisted in the US Army then October 31, 1972 received my Honorable Discharge. After working at a few different jobs I finally settled into my final occupation, Law Enforcement, in Oregon from Jan 1976 through May 1999 when i retired. I have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. My youngest son, Jason Charles Pedersbeck, did not survive and is with our Lord in Heaven.
I have 5 granddaughters and 4 grandsons.
During my military career I spent my first 3 years stationed in Germany. First year was in Augsburg and then 2 in Munich. From there I returned to the USA and was stationed with the 7th Special Forces Group at Ft Bragg, NC. Then in December 1967 was off to Vietnam and was there for the Tet Offensive. o the USA where, after a period of recooperation, was stationed at Ft Ord, California as a Senior Instructor for Advanced Individual Training. Then, due to medical issues was, assigned to Portland, Oregon until discharged. Ended up in Law Enforcement for 23 years and then retirement.
I have visited (while in the military) Germany, Denmark,Italy, Switzerland, France, Mexico, Guam, Vietnam, Japan. Since leaving the military I have made return visits to Denmark and Mexico. Also have been in every state of the Union at one time or another.
In 2000 I spent June and July in Denmark getting to know my 80 plus family members.
My father was Danish and mother Native American.
As of 01-14-2010 I am now a Knight of Columbus with my church being St James Catholic Church here in McMinnville. My son-in-law, Matt Bernards, was inducted with me into the Knighthood.
