Loretta's Story
When I was in the 5th grade, Mrs. Mills was my teacher. One day while out on the playground at lunch time I was playing on some monkey bars that sat at the end of the blacktop that had the basketball net on it. At the old Chesapeake East Elementary. I had swung up on them from hanging upside down and smacked my forehead on one of the bars. Blood was pouring from my head, my cousin who was in the 7th grade took me to the clinic...right through the gym/lunch room. Blood dripping all the while. One thing though, I had an atomic fireball in my mouth that I managed to hold on to until Mrs. Allen (the nurse) made me spit it out. My Mom was called, I had to get 5 stitches, but I got to leave school early. Hehe. Needless to say I was back a...Expand for more
t school the next day with a huge white bandage patch on my forehead. (totally embarrassing) *shrugs*
Another embarrassing time....I was in the 9th grade (had a touch of tonsilitus), in the lunch line when all of a sudden the hall was turning red and all the loud chattering became an almost silent mouth moving. I was well on my ways to passing out, and may very well had. (For I am still not sure how I got to the black bench.) Mrs. Allen once again, came to the rescue. There was and I'm sure many remember a black bench in the office that detention students had to sit on. All I remember is her telling me to bring my knees up and lay flat on my back. How I got to the bench is beyond me. However, my Mom was called and I went home.
