James's Story

Life Graduated from High School in 99. Moved to Ill temporarily with my mother to help her out. Feb of 2000 I joined the Army in Jacksonville, Ill. Went to basic training at Ft Sill, Ok. Then was stationed at Ft Stewart, Ga. Got out just before having to go to Iraq. Met my current wife in 2001. We had some problems and split up for a while before getting remarried on Oct 2, 05. We have 4 children between us. She has 3 from prior marriage and I have 1 from prior. We are also raising her nephew who is just like one of our own. Her name is Sheila. Kids are: Josh - 13, Kaleb - 8, Tristian - 7, Tyler - 7, and Andrea -5. We have four cats: Peckles (The mama), Scooter, Blossom, and Bootz . One black lab named King. Sold our first home back in October 2006 after buying our second in Sept. Right next door so the move was easy. In April 2006 we started a trucking company. We now have 2 trucking companies with 4 trucks. 3 tractor trailers and 1 dump truck. Sheila still has her same old Shipping job at GAFMC in Savannah while I work full time from home with the business and our brokering agency. Kids go to school about six houses down so we go to as many school functions as we can. Thinking about building a house at the back of our three acres and either renting this one out with our other two or dividing the land and selling it. Not sure yet. This last summer we took the kids to disney world for vacation and they had a blast. Once that was all done, Sheila and I went to Jamaica and the Cayman Islands for a w...Expand for more
eek. This year, kids get Sea World and we are talking about Fiji. Trying to stay in contact with the family as much as we can. Haven't been to Texas since, oh, 2001, but the phone works nice. Trying to get Dad to fly out here for a few weeks as his health isn't all that great anymore. That kinda makes it hard. Other than that, we'll just have to keep you updated. Workplace Uh.....started out working for my mom in Illinois. Joined Army next. Then went to work driving a truck. A 2004 Freightliner M2 to be exact. Not an eighteen wheeler but just as good. Nobody looking over my shoulder, get a lot of time to myself to think and pretty much run my own schedule. Oh yeah, I can see my wife anytime I want. My runs are local and Im home everynight. Cant wait till my wife retires from her job so we can go over the road with a real truck. My job is very laid back with minimal stress with the exception of all the idiots on the highway. Well, left this job in April 2006 when we started our own business. Stress is higher but the money is also so I cant complain. If you were ever told that running a trucking company is easy......Ill laugh at you. Then tell you to come try for a week. Military The ARMY......Not as bad as its made out to be. Boot Camp was a pain. Lot of long hours and even more yelling but once that was done......all cake. Never went to combat......was released from active duty prior to my unit shipping out for a back injury. Not a lot to say about it other than I think everyone should try it.
