Kevin's Story
Reflections of the past 40+ years as well as the high school experiences can be quite confusing, enlightening, and generally enjoyable to spend idle, contemplative time.
A good friend from my high school years, who has since died, used to say this is "Kissing The Past's Ass". I disagree.
To remember the interpersonal relationships, conflicts and growth is also humbling.
"Well, it was what it was..."
The only thing you can change is how you react to your environment and circumstances. Make the best of it. I suggest that you make your life a preparation for the ultimate gift: eternal life through Jesus Christ. Death will come sooner than you think.
I have had a wild ride. A professional design and sales engineering career in the pulp, paper and board industry, spanning over 25 years, I have traveled to Germany, Mexico, Canada and most all of the U.S. One of my memorable trips was to Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. A beautiful vacation destination where I would like to someday take my family.
Married at age 34, father of two girls born after six and eight years of marriage. Crohn's disease forced a disability-career change to the stay-at-home dad: becoming the IT manager at home, electrical, computer, automotive repair expert. Lots of time for reflection, learning and understanding our complex life and society on this rock. Being the stay-at-home dad has been the most rewarding of my life, rai...Expand for more
sing two beautiful, smart, witty, talented and ambitious girls.
Always looking skyward, I achieved a lifelong goal of becoming a Private Pilot in 1980, and have flown taildraggers (Citabria), and Beechcraft Skippers, Sundowners and Musketeer, providing many exciting experiences. One dream not yet realized is to own my own airplane. I regularly attend EAA and am also a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. The freedom of flying is something difficult to explain to someone who has not shared the passion.
I have owned several boats including a 21' SeaRay and owned several trick Pontiac Trans Ams and a high-performance version of a late model 150+ mph Corvette. Life in the country has been enhanced through owning several Jeeps - that are virtually unstoppable, even in the worst of weather.
BTW I do not have a Facebook page, never will, I am opposed to giving up my privacy for someone else's (Mark Zuckerberg, et al) monetary gain.
As to the loss of friends over the years, it is inevitable. Realizing there would be reasons that friendship endures and similarly, why many friends (some grow - some don't) are no longer present. Live and let live. And remember outside appearances are deceiving: everyone deals with something in their life. Its how you handle and adapt to these challenges.
Would welcome any (positive) contact from old classmates as there is no room allotted in my life for negativity.
