Cheryl's Story
College
My first impression and experience of College was great and it was everything i had imagined it would be. I just wish i had the experience in the time frame i should have experienced it. I was a much older on campus student than most of my friends and roomates, but i still experienced that part of my life and I'm so glad that i did. Most people feel they arent college material the only way one it not College material is because they dont want to be. I remember the roomates, hall buddies, dorm mothers and mostly the greek shows and the late night practices for the step shows. I hope to pledge soon. My most memorable experience was that my daughter got to experience it with me because she stayed on weekends at the dorm with me and I hope that instills in her that learning can be fun and built life long friendships.
Workplace
I decided to return to college to get a degree in Business Administration after about a year my professor decided i was great material for an Administrative Assistant for...Expand for more
an Attorney. I started in this position and stayed for about 8 years (off and on) at the same firm, i was almost talked into becoming an Attorney but i decided it best if i really weighed my options and i discovered that i couldn't represent people fairly if i didnt believe them 150% so i decided against that but i did continue to work at this firm and became Administrative Legal Assitant/Office Manager. After about another 6 months, we decided it best to part ways. I took a chance and opened my own Tax & Notary Service. I had enrolled in College at Jackson State University to pursue my interest in Accounting and turn my Associates degree in a Bachelor's in Business and Accounting. In the process i wanted to try my hand at this profession before i completed my degree. So far this is a great job and i love what i do. I look forward to being a CPA and I hope to be able to make this a very stable and profittable family business to be passed down from generation to generation, because this is my dream job.
