Melvin's Story
Life
I left Delbrook in '61. Spent short time in the RCN. Worked in marine and parts. Married in 65 and we had 2 children. Then went to work for BC Rail (PGE in those days) Spent many years working in the office and then driving truck. My last few years were spent at Public Freightways until I hurt my leg. The last 20 years have been spent mostly as a foster parent for many kids and now although still looking after a mentally challenged adult we babysit 3 of our 4 grandchildren. I am an avid bowler and spend many hours teaching YBC and working with Special Olympics. Other than that I enjoy bowling, golf, camping and swimming. I finally graduated in '82 and then went to Kwantlen College and graduated in Automotive parts and Light Industrial Wharehousing. Now I'm looking to network with old friends. We have had a couple of get togethers when people from out of town come in and it is sure nice to see them after all these years. Hope to have many more get togethers and more people out to them. ve of my life and am now lost. I am trying to keep busy and have my daughter and her kids living in my suite downstairs which is a big help although I do most of the cooking for all of us. I have been enjoying that.
I could'nt bear living in the house anymore and sold it. I now live in a mobile home. I am enjoying it although all the renovations I am doing seem to take forever.
The renovations are done and now I have decided that it is not the place for me. I just don't want the yard work anymore. I have a motorhome and going to trade it in on a bigger diesel pusher and live in that for a while until I decide what I am going to do. Storage lockers are wonderful to hide stuff for later.
I have decide also to move on. It gets lonely by yourself even with my children living close by they have their own lives and are busy with their own kids (my grandkids who I am very proud of.) I am going to run away for a year or so and hopefully find a loving person to share the rest of my life with and who knows where I will end up.
