Timothy's Story
Life
I attended Western Kentucky University. I stayed busy at Western as a member of several organizations. I was elected Vice-President for Professional Activites of Delta Sigma Pi. I also worked on WKU's nationally-recognized, award-winning student newspaper, the College Heights Herald. Working on the Herald staff presented me with opportunities to go conferences and conventions all over the U.S. to hone my skills. I spent three years on the Herald staff (starting out in advertising produciton and even becoming advertising manager). At Western, I majored in journalism-advertising and double minored in business administration and marketing. I finally graduated in 1997.
In May 1996, while waiting to finish up my last class at WKU, I took a job as graphic design superviser for the Franklin Favorite in Franklin, KY. I worked at the Favorite until September 1997.
In September of '97, I took a job as a graphic designer for B.A. Pargh Compan...Expand for more
y of Nashville, TN doing catalogs, sales flyers, etc. B.A. Pargh is a wholesaler of office products.
In July 2000, Pargh was purchased by Daisytek International of Allen, TX. B.A. Pargh then became the third largest office supplies wholesaler in the country. In March 2001, Daisytek decided to close down most of its Nashville operations in favor of running more things out of it Texas headquarters.
Foruntately for me, they hired American Color of Nashville as their outsourced catalog and flyer production group. In turn, American Color hired me to do conceptual designs for Daisytek's new catalogs and flyers. In addition to my duties as lead designer, I am also supervising the production staff for the catalogs and flyers. My new flyer design hits the streets with Daisytek's Office Supplies flyer in August 2001, and my new catalog design hits the streets in January 2002.
