Michael's Story
Recently retired from the United States Mint HQ in Washington DC. Was Senior Configuration Manager there for nine years. The Mint makes those little round things in your pocket.
This summer (2011) I rode my Harley to the Arctic Circle with my brother-in-law. We put over 10,000 miles on the bikes. I had one breakdown. The starter gear went bad, so even though the starter motor was good it could not connect to the engine. We were 63 Km from White Horse in the Yukon. I got a tow into white Horse and we had to camp just outside town for several days while we waited for the only Harley starter in Canada to be shipped from Toronto. On the trip back I towed my project car (53 Merc) on a trailer from Florence MT with the Harley in the truck bed.
Previous MC trips have included L'anse aux Meadows in Newfoundland where the Vikings built a village 500 years before Columbus. One year we rode the ...Expand for more
"Tail of the Dragon" (318 curves in 11 miles). I did not dump the bike, but others have. Check the pictures on line.
My yearly plan is for Suzy and I to snow-bird between Frankford WV (old dairy farm - no cows) and our house in Mesa AZ with a lot of travelling & trailer camping around the US.
I like 53 thru 56 F-100 trucks and 53 Mercury cars (my first car was a 53 Merc). I have a 56 F-100 (Chrysler drive train with 340 Barracuda engine) which I used for the US portion of the Alaska trip. I also have the 53 Merc mentioned above that I am rebuilding. The Merc will be my tow car. It will have four wheel independent suspension and four wheel disk brakes with a Corvette 350 up front. I already bought the burned out Corvette donor car.
You can tell that I never grew up. I just kept everyone fooled long enough to get a pay check.
