Got in the auction business in 1982, retired in 2004.
After graduating in 1979 I worked for my father on our farm. In 1982 things began to change. I began helping the neighbors with odd jobs and auctions. In 1985 I got injured on the farm and took on a new full time occupation as an auctioneer. Went to college, got my real estate license. Became Omaha's auctioneer of the year in 1987-89. Became Nebraska's only auctioneer to sell a Vegas casino. Since have conducted over 1600 auctions, raised over a $2 million for charity. Rodeo announced from 1990 til 1996. Final Rodeos. Worked with the PRCA and the PBR. Auctioned and or announced in 45 of the 50 states. Been just about everywhere in the USA. Met a lot of wonderful people and shared the bright lights and stage with many of the top Country Music singers from the early '90's. Got married in 1996 to a veterinarian. Moved to Kearney, NE. We have 1 son G.W. born in 1999.
In 1998 I injured my back and in 2004 officially retired at the age of 43. Ive done more in 20 years than most will do in 2 lifetimes. I am a very lucky man indeed! I have many stories and even more wonderful memories. All something you can hang your hat on.
