Cindy's Story
A lot of water is over the dam since days of yore at Dillon Elementary when first grade girls played horses under the tutelage of Martha Daw, talking in Pig Latin at recess, or when we slid down the back hill in the snow on old, metal lunch trays, and boys chased girls. I'm no longer the quiet, geeky girl who always had her nose stuck in a book during days at West M, or the girl Billy Weiser came up behind to roll her knee socks down around her ankles, or editor of the Tornado Times -- dang! I wish I was that skinny and carefree again. :)
I went off to college after graduating from West Muskingum High School's Class of '70, first at OUZ, working in the Library part-time and participating in University Chorus (Jerry G. would have liked that although we didn't have lovely ivory blazers and ribbon ties!). I married a local guy and two years later headed to Ohio State University to major in English -- I hoped to actually go to Library School for my Master's Degree, but alas! The well-laid plans of mice and men sometimes go astray. After receiving my B.A. in English from OSU, I ended up moving to McArthur (the least populous county in Ohio, a far cry from the seething, metropolitan area of Columbus -- culture shock!) where my husband had his first job for three years. I ended up commuting to OU in Athens to get a teaching degree before eventually moving back to the area where I grew up.

f the rival high schools (MHS) since 1979. I'm divorced twice -- I obviously made some bad choices with regard to men -- hopefully, those were learning experiences :) I do have a 25 year old daughter, married to a Vermonter she met while attending OSU, living off in the Land of Vermont (she has a degree in Dental Hygiene but just graduated with a Master's in Library Science from Drexel -- why didn't she listen to her mother? *sigh*). She is also pregnant and expecting my first grandchild in April 2010 (I'm surely not old enough to be a Grammy, am I?). In addition, I also have a 20year old son, majoring in Mechanical Engineering, minoring in Music at OSU -- go Bucks!
I'm quite active in local theatre -- it's one thing that challenges me creatively and that I dearly love. I've been in well over 50 shows (once the acting bug bites, you fall in love with theatre), a member of the theatre board, and also have directed the school plays for the past 30 years. In addition, I used to do 1st person presentations of Mary Todd Lincoln with some Civil War Re-enactors around the area. I still like to write, enjoy nature, people, conversations, travel, OSU football, art, genealogy, computers, and of course, reading ( I guess you can't take the geek out of the girl, eh?). I find most things in life interesting.
So, let me hear about you, my classmates -- where are you and what are you doing? Anyone want to get together and talk?
