Life I recently had my second brush with a hurricane. This time it was the hurricane, Ian. I have some roof damage, I lost about 1/3 of the screens on my pool cage and my flagpole went down. Yesterday, 10/4/2022, I repaired my flagpole and was able to re-install it along with the LED light on top. Everything works so now I just have to wait for the AAA adjuster. I was very lucky with the amount of damage and I did NOT lose electrical power. The beach areas were not as lucky. Most of Fort Myers Beach is gone, with nothing left except the sand. Matlacha was even worse off. It's all gone including Pine Island Road which was the only way there. Pine Island Road is gone, ripped out of the ground, and piled up like firewood in most places. My prayers go out to the people that lived close to the beaches. It is sickening to see some of the photos.. I spent 20 years on the drawing board in machine design, finally burned out, and went into nationwide sales. I became tired of chasing airplanes so I earned my private pilot's license so I could fly myself around the country and have fun doing it. Hence my handle of woodpilot. I’ve been on AOL for about 30 years. Google it. I soloed on January 29, 1989. Started Dunn Woodworks in 1991. We designed and built high-end wood store fixtures and retail displays, and shipped nationwide. At one time we built about 10,000 displays a year. I am about ready to retire - looking for a house on a runway in the south. As of Jan. 2007, we sold Dunn Woodworks and retired. We have 20 grandkids and #19 Great grand child and they are just getting started. The hair is now all white but still very thick and I have earned every one of them. I am so old now that I no longer buy green bananas. lol As of May 2009, we sold our Maryland home and moved to Lehigh Acres, FL.
