Nancy's Story

Life Hi Alumni: Living in Pottstown, Pa between Phila and Reading. Happily remarried and have two great children, (not kids anymore)My son Joseph, lives in Md and works for the Md State Dept of Education as a Rehab Specialist. Sheryl is an Assistant Director and kindergarten teacher. Both are doing great. I work at Aetna as an Enrollment Specialist for the Mid-Atlantic.........My hubby, Pete works for the State of Pa as a maintainance supervisor at French Creek State Park for 35 years... Love Pennsylvania, my job, and am proud of my family. Couldn't ask for anything better then what was given to me, except I do miss the contact of you all. Hope to see you all soon. Nancy....Update: Joe now 30 is working on Masters in the Univ of Md. for eary elem teaching. Pete took early retirement because the Governor decided it was time to cut back on benefits for State employees. He now doesn't know where he ever had time to work. Really getting the yard in tip-top shape. Sher, now 33 is doing well. I am now a proud grandmuppy to a yellow lab. I have two step-real children. See you all if only in my dreams, I'll never forget you all. Nan.....update. On Joe's 31st birthday, he finished school with a 4.0 and got his masters. He got a contract with Howard County in Md. where he was a student teacher. His wife Katie, is a cardiac clinical excercise physiologist with Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. My grandpuppy 70 lbs will be a yr in June. I still work at Aetna and still love all the chaos and stress. It certainly isn't boring. . Pete, my soulmate, is still enjoying retirement. He still don't know where he got the time to work between his yard, and upgrading our 55 yr old home. All the major work is done, and it looks great. Update: 16 1/2 yrs at Aetna and still plugging. Son, Joe is a 3rd grade teacher in Columbia, Md where he lives. Sheryl has chosen to go back to teaching pre-school and loves it. Gilbert, my grandpuppy is now two and graduated from school too with a cap. Pete is still gardening and works with helping people with addictions. Where did he ever find the time to work? Update: 06/28/08-I am having my first grandchild, Nov 12. My son and daughter in law are going to be the best mommy + daddy to a little girl. How exciting to know what you are having so you can prepare accordingly. Update: 10/09/08- Baby Alessia Grace born Sept 20, 08, two months premature. Alessia weighed in at 4 lb 6oz, lost 9oz to 3lb, 13oz and is back up to 4lb, 13oz and will be 3 weeks old on Sat, Oct 11. Still in the NICU in Columbia, John Hopkins Hospital in Maryland but all is going well and expected discharge will be about Oct 15 if she keeps progressing the way she is. What an entrance to this wonderful world she made. Just like a Biskey needed to make a grand entrance with lots of excitement. Quick delivery of 10 minutes from onset of labor and water breaking. This is what life is all about, watching the little miracles that come our way daily. Have a great Fall season, and enjoy the change in colors that are now taking place in the trees. Update 10/24/08 Alessia Grace was released from the hospital on Oct 18 at 5lb,6oz. Three days later she was weighed at 5lb,9oz. still small but her progress is unbelievable. Her Birth Day should be November 12. She was born Sept 20th. Update 12/26/08 Happy Holidays to All and Hope all is well with you. Update on Baby Girl. at 3 months she weighed in at 8lb 6oz and is doing great. She is starting to focus on lights and recognizes her parents voices. She has all the correct things that a 6 wk would have which for her she is 6 weeks old, even though she was born 3 months ago. Otherwise, all is well in Pottstown and nothing of interest is going on and that is good. Happy, Healthy and Wealthy New Year TO ALL. June 13, 09-Hi friends, it has been a while, but all is well. Baby Alessia is doing fine and has really come a long way. Her daddy who took a leave of absence took off from school on a family leave in January and has been working with her with her motor and mental skills. She is very intelligent for 8 months and cute as a baby with her little blonde hair she has and bright ocean blue eyes. She and Gilbert, dog, are good friends and everytime he passes her she just smiles and brightens up. He just gives her an occasional lick and tries to steal her toys. I guess Gilbert hasn't figured that not every toy is his. She is not into toys that much yet except noise and colorful ones educational ones. Have a great summer and hope to read some updates about you. 9/20/09-Alessia Grace turned one and what a party she had. She is now 20lbs, 12oz and 30". She has become quite a little lady. She is now into colorful toys that light up or make noises or toys she can push around with a handle standing up, as she can take a few steps by herself, but the handle toys really let her zipity do dah around the house. Nothing like this when I was raising my kids. Still working and probably will for a long time as I like the people I work with and do enjoy the job, most of the time. Gilbert the yellow lab, loves her and lets her crawl all over him,and doesn't bat an eye. I call that love and faithful. We should all watch a faithful dog and a child and learn from it because this is unconditional Love. Have a great FALL and I will keep in touch soon. Feb 2016, Jan 17,10. Holidays have come and gone, now in mid January I am doing some redecorating in between working. New rug installed and new furniture coming in 6 weeks. from Victorian to Country Lazyboy. From Pretty, hard couch to soft recliner double couch . Also a rocker reliner and a massage heating chair. I guess I will have to sacrifice and become Lazy to enjoy my Lazygirl sofa. Will shop on MLK day, holiday, for a new TV stand and maybe start looking for curtains. It is hard to shop inbetween working. Alessia is now 16 mo, 24lbs, and 32" height. She is doing great and enjoyed her Christmas.Lots of noisy, bright toys, but she liked my little dollar snow globes I used for decorations the best. Imagine that! Aug,...Expand for more
2010. Sheryl is now married after 16 years with Bryan. She had a beach wedding in OC< MD on 8/21, one day after both of there birthdays. All turned out perfect and lots of pictures were taking that I posted on Facebook.Alessia is one month of turning two and she is doing great, sometimes a little whiney but thats what little and big girls do. Summer is coming to a wind down and hopefully the extreme heat has too. A Lot too HOT for me this summer, thank God for AC. 10 MORE DAYS TIL LABOR DAY. I always wanted to be a Secretary when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. Its Sept 2011 and all is fine in Pottstown, Pa. Alessia is going to be 3 in two weeks and is talking up a storm and is doing fine for a 3 yr old. Daughter, Sheryl, Graduated in May from Eastern Univ with a Bachelor in Early Elem and is working on Special Needs. She graduated with honors and She worked very hard to get where she is today. Son Joe is still teaching in Md and doing fine and his wife, Katie is currently training in a new job and will be going to Massachusetts the end of September for training. Bryan , Sheryl's hubby is still with his job at Hopewells. I am presently still working, but was offered a package if I take early retirement. I will find out in two days whether approved for Oct 29th, 2011 or April 30th 2012. Either way, I am excited. I did my share and worked my whole life from the age of 18. I took my job seriously and always did an honest days work. I will be leaving with my head up and not looking back. So you see life has been good and when obstacles get in the way we just push them aside and learn from them. April 2012- New grandson born April 3, 5 weeks premature but weighed in at 6lb8oz, 19", He is doing fine and Big Sister age 3 1/2 loves her Little Brother. Enjoying retirement but keeping busy. Working on moving my company benefits into annutities. Been very busy and with the nice weather we have had all winter the garden and trees are all blossomed way ahead of time and the yard looks great. Also have met up with some of my gradeschool friends a few times and enjoyed old memories of Elizabeth, NJ . Most live within the vicinity of elizabeth and my Friend Theresa Gassera and I live about 40 miles away from each other in PA. Life is what you make of it and I have to remember if I make a mistake today, tomorrow is my second chance to make it right. . . May 15, 2012: I have been reconnecting with St Michael's school mates. Joe B, Frank F, Lorraine F, Mary Ann M, Bonnie L, Theresa G & Cecelia N. Some others we have been in contact with, but they are unable to meet up with us because of distance and other personal reasons. Retired Feb 28th and still trying to do some catch up. My family are doing great and hope someday we can reconnect. Nov 28,2012: Still meeting up with old classmates from St Michaels as well as other friends from Elizabeth that I have met through FaceBook. For St Mikes,Barbara Geisen and Husband Billy Aker, Nick Giannoti, Billy Eilbacher. Others I have met from Elizabeth are Billy Endress, Joe Lepore, Elaine Hamilton, Maddie V. and my cousin, John Haggerty, and Mary Ann Murphy's sister, Madeline , and Theresa Gassera's niece, Judy Turner. Our next get together will be at Sun Tavern, Roselle Pk, on Dec 29th.and hopefully some of the people we were able to locate in NJ will be able to attend. Oct 11, 2013: Its been 11 months and haven't updated. All is doing well so far but far too busy, but I guess it is a good thing. My Pete in Nov last yr was diagnosed with pneumonia which was a result of getting E COLI in an abcess cyst on his liver. Took 3 weeks in the hospital to get him diagnosed with the correct poisoning so he could be given the correct antibiotics. We both believe he would have died if not correctly administered Zosyn into his system regularly. He came home and I administered this intravenously through a pic every 8 hrs and he also had a drain in his back coming out of his liver. He slowly recovered after a month on this, nursing visits, and Nurse Nancy's skills. It was a long haul and thank God we had a great Infectious disease Dr who took his job seriously. Shortly after that with all the blood work he had they found he had prostate cancer and is currently undergoing radiation at a Fox Chase Cancer Prostrate center and 8 more treatments and he is done for a month til he gets another PSA to see if it is in remission. We travel 50 miles daily for radiation in King of Prussia, Pa and it is a challenging drive with the crazies on the road including me and when it rains Oh My God, you think there was an air raid drill to get where you are going and get under cover. It has been a challenging journey but well worth all the prayers and friends that keeps us going. Hope all had a great summer and getting ready for the upcoming holidays and may you stay safe, healthy and maybe some wealth added in for comfort. I don't come on Classmates as much as I use to as I am able to be in contact with my St Mikes/Battin and Elizabeth websites and have been occasionally meeting up with some friends in Jersey for lunches and even picnics and civil war reenactments and having fun doing it thanks to FACEBOOK. Feb 2016, Hello classmates, just wanted to touch base with You all. Not much have changed since my last contact except I am enjoying life on lifes terms. Petes health is doing fine with no problems since the E Coli /Prostate Cancer in 2012. God has taken care of us and both of us are enjoying retirement and keeping extremely busy with meetings and having lots of fun while we can. Joe, Kt, Alessia 7 and Kellen 3 and of course, Gilbert are doing fine. Sheryl and Bryan also are enjoying life with their camper down the Delaware shore. They get there as much as they can but work seems to be is still a necessity in their life. They have a Chihuahua and two 7month old kittens. They recently lost Thunder their 18yr old black lab. He lived a long and happy life. Not too much too report and I will see most of you on FB.
