Alex's Story
Life
I was in the Navy for four years (four too many!), and did the network administration thing (IT). I became a civilian again in November of 2001, and worked as a contractor for the Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command in San Diego, CA.
I then met my husband and we had a little boy in December of 2003. We moved to Flagstaff, AZ where we lived for 2 years. We then moved to Oregon where we lived for 2.5 years. We just left our beloved base in San Pedro, CA (where we also lived for 2 years) for a pretty rural area of Maine called Kittery. I absolutely hate it and can't wait to get back to the west coast!!
I am currently pursuing an Associates degree and an interpreter's certification in American Sign Language. It's not a typical job, and there are no cubicle farms involved, which will be a stark improvement from my last career. I now have 3 children, 2 girls and a boy. They are 10, 9, and 5.

School
I dropped out of HS my junior year, and went traveling. Then I joined the military and went through IT school. Still working on my Associates degree in American Sign Language. I intend to be a certified interpreter within the next 2 years (life has made this a back-burner priority, but I should be able to start up again soon).
Workplace
After the Navy, I had several government contracts. I am now pursuing a career in Sign Language interpretation.
Military
I spent 4 years in the Navy, where I started my career as an IT. I was stationed in Sicily for a year, and did the rest of my time in Norfolk, VA. I got out in 2001, and have never looked back.
