Life In the middle of the ninth grade I left school,I went to work for Krogers in Farmington. About a year later we moved to downtown Detroit, where I went to work for western union and then to another Krogers. At 17, I entered into the Military. After basic I was sent to Japan as an infantryman. Six months after arriving in japan the Korean War started. I went to Korea and got caught up in one of the most horrific battles in Military History. A battle called, "The Chosin Reservoir". I was wounded and frostbitten and sent to a hospital and was there for five months recuperating from my wounds. After being released I was sent to Fort Monmouth, N.J. for the remainder of my enlistment. After discharge, I settled into married life as a mailman. After being out three years I reenlisted in the Army and did two tours in Germany, another one in Korea, and one in Thailand and in between that time I spent three tours in Vietnam. I was awarded two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, and two Army commendation medals, and twelve other medals. Also earned the Combat Infantrymens Badge, which you only received by getting shot at.
