Jack's Story
After HS I went to work for General Telephone for a year then I got drafted on May 6, 1968 (Never forget that day).
From basic training I was given the same type of job I did at GenTel and went to Fort Campbell, KY. After only 6 months there I got send to Qui Nhon, Vietnam with a combat signal unit. I was discharged when I got back from Nam.
I stayed in Lakewood, got married to my HS girl friend in 1972. I went back to GenTel until 1971 when I left to get into construction. In 1976 I got a divorce and moved to Reno in 1978. I have 2 kids from my first marriage.
I met my current wife a month or two after moving to Reno and we have been together ever since. We have one daughter, Arin Hope, who is a miracle child. fect in the abdominal area. We were advised to disconnect all life support when she was only 3 months old, but, we chose to ignore the advice and moved her to a hospital with a more positive outlook. Arin is working as a teacher's aide for special education K-3rd grade.
I left construction in 1981 and went to work for the State of Nevada in fire code enforcement. In 1985 I was recruited by a local building department and I retired from there in 2005. Since 1990 I have had my own code consulting business, Code Review Services, Inc, which I now operate on a full time basis. I primarily provide plan review and inspection services for rural areas in Northern Nevada. I also do inspections for the DOJ for compliance with ADA.
Right now, life is good. At last count I have 6 grandkids (2 girls & 4 boys), but, they all live out of state. Summers are busy.
