John's Story
I was in the graduating class of 1944. I lived in those years at the corner of Larrabee and Armitage Streets, the Leies and Son television, refrigeration, etc. retail store. I attended St. Michael's Grade School. At the end of my junior year, I joined the Society of Mary and made my novitiate at Galesville, WI. Credits were transferred from there to St. Michael's so that I actually was part of the graduating class of '44, without my attending the graduation ceremonies. gh School, Milwaukee before attending the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, for theology studies. I was ordained in 1956, stayed in Europe to complete seminary studies and a doctorate degree in theology, returning home in 1959. since then I taught in Milwaukee (again), St. Louis, and Lima, Peru (South America). In 1974 I was assigned to St. Mary's Unversity, San Antonio, where I have served as professor of theology, academic vice-president, and president. These days I still teach one course in theology and am involved in public relations as the President Emeritus of the University.
