I've worked in the health field for approximately 20 years.
I started in this field as a part-time job, filling in for a
doctor of whom had just lost his receptionist without notice. I've been self-taught in learning all aspects of a doctors office from being a receptionist, medical records clerk, medical biller, transcriptionist and collector. der. I make sure that the doctors are following policies and procedures along with transcribing medical diagnosis and level of patient care into numerical code and following the policies set by federal & state regulations.
I'm about to take my certification test in December or '04 to become a certified professional clinical coder. My job is a challange everyday and mostly overwhelming, but it is satisfying to know that you made the patient comfortable about the services being provided.
