Carol Ellstein:  

I love to travel and have spent time in Europe, the Middle East, Canada, and two-thirds of the United States. However, I have always returned home to Michigan. I have worked as a psychologist in various capacities for 30 years. I met my first husband, Chuck Ellstein, as a freshman at University of Michigan, and married him when I was 20 (thus, totally screwing up my college dating years!). I continued my education and eventually earned a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from Michigan State University. We raised one daughter, Melissa, in Southfield and East Lansing. In 1999, Chuck and I decided to buy a vacation house on a small lake in northern MI. Two weeks before the closing, he had a fatal heart attack at age 49. My first step as a single woman was to buy the lake house for myself. Friends and family questioned my sanity at the time, but I did what I thought needed to be done, and I've never looked back. I found solace and a whole lot more in my rural home, and relocated there in 2002.
