Pastor Brenda J. Valdez

Pastor Valdez arrived in Phoenix, AZ in 1982 from New York City and has actively served for several years as a Sunday school teacher, Deaconess, Youth director and in the Evangelistic outreach field. In the fall of 1995, she accepted the call into the Ministry, and by invitation, began conducting Bible studies at ÂBack to Life, (a substance abuse recovery program for men) in Phoenix AZ. In September of 1996, after returning from Israel, Pastor Valdez began teaching the men at Back to Life, the Spiritual Side of Recovery from the Bible and using the 12 Steps of AA.
In August of 1998 Pastor Valdez answered the call to serve the men at the ÂParole Transitional Program for Project Return in New York City. There, she ran a two hour weekly group session on the ...Expand for more
Spiritual Side of Recovery, she started and was the Editor for a weekly newsletter for PTP, she started and conducted in-house Worship Services, Bible Studies, she worked as a Substance Abuse Counselor/Case Manager for Project Return Esperanza, and made numerous visits to minister to the men at Rikers Island Jail. Also, while in New York, ÂCity of Refuge Inc. was incorporate in June of 2000.
In December of 2000, after suffering with chronic asthma and bronchitis Pastor Valdez returned to Arizona and to her family. She has continued to bring the Spiritual Side of Recovery to the men at several recovery programs here in the Valley, along with weekly Bible Studies, and visit the men incarnated here in AZ. Pastor Valdez is working to secure a residence/building for GodÂs Mighty Men to be restored and made whole.
