Kathy's Story
Life
After high school I had no idea what I wanted to do. I tried banking for a while but it just wasn't me. So I landed a job in an ice skating show in Europe - Holiday on Ice - and spent the next 14 months touring Europe and South America. Returned home due to an injury, and went to work with Intellectually Challenged, where I stayed for 20 years before retiring to raise my family.
Married a wonderful man who is a Farrier, and raising three children - Michael who was born in 84, Steven who was born in 86, and our daughter Taylor, who was born in 94. We live rather rural, and love it, spend our summers on our boat, and escape to Mexico as often as we can!
School
Enjoyed high school, altho I know I should have attended more classes. Many a day Mr. Baillie came down the halls to yank me back into class! Most of my memories of school were of gymnastics and sports, too many hours spent in the girl's bathrooms, and...Expand for more
a great place down by where the grade 7s had classes.... teachers never caught us smoking down there! Warm days spent out in the football field sitting around listening to Jim Surtees playing guitar
College
When I realized that I wanted to work with people I enrolled in College Marie Victorin and took a three year course (which I completed in two and a half) while working full time in the field of Intellectually Challenged.
Workplace
When I graduated from Beaconsfield I had no idea what I wanted to do. I went into banking, as many of my family had, but soon realized it was not what I wanted. My brother suggested going to Europe to join an ice show, and that is exactly what I did. Spent 14 months touring Europe and South America before returning home with an injury. Started working at Taylor-Thibideau in 1977 and stayed there for 20 years, until my daughter was born and I decided to retire and raise my family.
