Terrilee's Story
Life
While finishing nursing training at SMC, I married a pre-med student from Chicago, Jim Jenks, worked as a high risk neonatal intensive care nurse in Chicago, and ran a busy family with three boys.
Jim and I divorced fall of 1999.
While I appreciate the city (I now have a townhouse downtown Chicago), my last of three sons finished high school this year and I still long to get back to my country dreams. IÂd like to keep my Chicago property, but I want to own property out west either in Colorado or Montana for a chance to get back to my country roots.
IÂve included a picture here of my son, Jamie, 26, who is an officer in the Coast Guard. This is a picture from his graduation in CT. in February this year. I also have a son, Jeffrey, 23, that is finishing elementary education and my last son, Dave, is heading for the Coast Guard or to be a Chicago fireman. He has his own band that plays all over Chicago and is planning to have a music-recording studio.
Even though I have not been an SDA since about 3 minutes after I graduated from HA, I've always been healthy minded due to my experience growing up at Highland. For the most part I have remained vegetarian, and have appreciated a mom that made granola and home made yogurt well before her time! IÂm now a...Expand for more
tree huggin, granola type that loves animals, art, gardening, photography, mountains, and music festivals. I love especially Colorado jam bands (String Cheese). I love music from the sixties, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, Phish, Grateful Dead, Tom Petty, the Who, Santana, and blue grass. I love the food, blues and small theaters in my city neighborhood. I have two pug dogs and I love the crazy pug people in Chicago. We have the Pug Pride Parade, Pugs Against Hunger march and the Pugo de Mayo parade each year. IÂm there! I love Bears games and many music venues in this city. I snow ski. I mostly love to travel.
Politically and socially, a lot of the time I think I was born on the wrong planet. I am concerned about supporting ethical companies and responsible packaging for the long-term concerns about global warming and I care to decrease waste. I walk an unbeaten path, am unconventional and follow a spiritual path that is not part of any organized religion. In fact, it took years for me to discover true happiness and also to learn that my spiritual side had nothing to do at all with any organized religion or doctrine. Letting that go was like dropping chains around my shoulders.
