Larry's Story
Life
I am married, to Dianne for twenty
years. We live in Leavenworth, Kansas,
We were not blessed with any children.
Dianne retired from teaching elementary school after almost 30 years.
After I left Santa Monica in 1959. I
joined the Army where I had a spent my first overseas tour in Korea. I got out
in 1962 went to hairdressing school in Santa Monica. I missed the Army and reenlisted in 1966. I went to West Berlin, Germany, this was when Vietnam was getting a bad rap on the home front.
I took a European out and stayed in Germany for about a year.
When I returned to the States I stayed in NY City and Ft. Lee...Expand for more
, NJ. I worked a various jobs including driving a taxi in
NYC. I missed the Army and the travel
so I did it again and reenlisted in
1974. This time went back to Mannheim,
Germany.
After my tour in Germany I was assigned
to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. I stayed in
this time and retired in September 1988.
After I retired I went to the University
of Kansas. Graduated with a BS in
Recreation Therapy and Recreation
Management. I have retired from my work as a Recreation Therapist. In retirement
I drive a school bus and work in the local Wal Mart Store. Also I enjoy officiating Fast Pitch Softball in the summer
