Elizabeth's Story
Life
I graduated from Gordon College with a degree in nursing. I am married to Jason Rainey. We have 2 beautiful children.
School
The teachers that inspired me the most were Mrs. Thor and Mrs. Richardson. They were very supportive and genuinely cared about their students. I miss my old friends and regret losing touch with pretty much all of them. If I could do it all over I would still be talking to some of them and would have dropped "you-know-who" so fast it wouldn't have been funny. I miss watching Kyle and his friends play hacky sac in front of the school, and our classic lunch discussions (Andrea, Jason,John, Paul). Well, here's to the good times.
College
College was well worth it. I met so many great people there. The classes were great, the teachers were the best, and I learned so much. The nursing program was the hardest thing I have ever been through in my life. We called it Nursing Boot Camp. And, it was that and more. But we formed a strong bond. There were so many days I cried, studied my butt off, and thought I might not make it through the program. But I did. I will ...Expand for more
remember to wash my hands Mrs. Brown! The teachers that meant the most to me were Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Purvis. Without your encouraging attitudes I would not have made it. It is important to show compassion for your students. That is one thing that will be remembered. I would not choose another place if I could go back in time. When you leave Gordon you are ready to face the world. For anyone thinking of being an RN the course is intense and you better not even try it if this is not what you truly want to do. I hope my fellow classmates are doing well if any of you read this!
Workplace
Well, I started off as a CNA and did that for about 6 years. I mostly took care of older adults. It was a physically hard job. I learned a lot from the people I took care of and enjoyed hearing their life stories, meeting their families, and getting little gifts of gratitude from them such as cards, or hand made items. I worked with some great people and not so great people. I have been an RN for a while now. My specialty is NICU, but I have also done peds. I am now a SAHM and it's the best job ever!
