Jeanne's Story
Life
I left California at 21 years old and moved to Washington. Married at 23 and adopted a daughter when I was 28. She was 3 days old when we got her. She is 30 yrs. old now and after one year in Italy, she served a Mission for our Church in Arizona. I was divorced when she was 3yrs. old and I raised her myself. I attempted marriage one more time, but after a restraining order and one year, that was over and I have decided I don't do marriage very well. Work has become my life and I love it. The little time I spend at home, I enjoy working in my garden and playing with my cats. I love to read and travel whenever I get the chance. I've taken 2 Caribbean cruises so far and plan to take a few more. I left Salt Lake and my "cush" job and moved to Missouri for a few years. I'm now retired and living in Washington State again. My chosen home. Busy with church and genealogy, gardening, reading and some travel. Love it up here.
Workplace
After my divorce, with a 3 year old daughter and very little college, I got an entry-level job at the Boeing Company in Seattle working for the new Commuter Program. It had 3 bus routes and 300 employees in the program. Within 3 years our program had grown to 10,000 employees and over 400 vanpools and 8 regional Transit Agencies. d at the time. I left Washington in 1995 and came to Utah. I worked with Utah Transit for a time, but decided to leave Rideshare as a career and went into computers. I came to the Salt Lake County Recorder's Office as Internet Services Coordinator and 2 years later my Director decided to run for Recorder and won. He asked me to be his Chief Deputy Recorder of Salt Lake County and I accepted. We won our first county-wide election in 2002 and we had 4 more years before I decided to leave. It was a big job and I learned Employment law, Real Estate law and environmental law as well. I worked very closely with the District Attorney's office, the Legislature and other county offices to accomplish my duties. I was also responsible for making sure the county was in compliance with state and Federal EPA regulations as I filed the annual rideshare reports with the state of Utah. I loved every minute of it! I worked at the Recorder's Office in Salt Lake for 71/2 years and it was fantastic. I left Salt Lake and moved to Missouri where I had a small old house in town and 3 acres of waterfront property at Lake of the Ozarks. I decided not to do the Bed and Breakfast as the property was inaccessable all winter. I wouldn't be able to support the Bed and Breakfast on 3-4 months a year. I stayed in MO a few years and came back to Washington State for retirement.
