Ronald's Story

After graduating in 75, I started to get reaquainted with my future wife (Cheri Blanksma) and fell in love. We got married October 20,1976 after she had graduated from beauty school. I went to work construction for the first six months, and in early 1977 I went to work at Gallatin Homes for the next 5-1/2 years. Cheri also worked for awhile at the homes. We were then blessed in Feb 79 with our first child, Bryan. In 1981 we moved to Belgrade, where we had purchase our first home. Cheri worked across the street at a hair salon for the five years that we lived in Belgrade. In April of 1985 our daughter Meagan was born. During these years I was really active in number of sporting activities throughout these years. I participated in city league basketball (20 years),slow pitch softball(14 years), and golf now for 26 years, which I still enjoy, and am thankful that I am still able to play at a high competive level, againt my brother and a number of great friends that I have met over the years, through my work and during my years of involvemnet in my sporting activities. In June of 1982 I began work at United Building Center in Bozeman, where i worked for 15 years. I worked my way up the ladder from a delivery driver for 6 years, then to a yard foreman for 4 years. I then worked as inside/outside contractor sales for the next 5 years. I also worked various other jobs during my time at UBC, so that we could send our children to MCS. Some of these jobs were part time milker for Henry Alberda, Harvey Van Gelder, Jack Braaksma, Tom Kingma, and Dan Dunn (1989-1998). I also watered Valley View Golf Course during the summer (1988-1993). I also spent my spare hours building storage sheds and children...Expand for more
s playhouses while i worked the last 6 years for UBC. In 1998 I went to work at Kenyon Noble, where I have worked for the last 11 years in contractor sales. My wife also started to work at a beauty salon at 4 corners after we had built a house on the family farm,in 1986, where we still live today. Cheri bought the business w/a partner and after a few years she became sole owner. In 1996 we added a garage and beauty shop to our home. Our son, Bryan attended MSU for about 1-1/2 years in electrical engineering, but decided that he wanted to get that degree through DeVry University in Long Beach,CA. he moved to L.A. in 1999 and graduated in 2002, where he worked for a fire suppresion company for three years there. The company then promoted him to start a new branch for them in Las Vegas, where he has been for the last 4-1/2 years. Our daughter after graduating in 2003 went to work for a local dentist, got married in September 2006,then decided that she wanted to be a dental hygentist. So she has been going to MSU for the last 1-1/2 years and will be moving to Great Falls to get her degree there. Her husband (Brad Baumann) is a proffesional photographer, and extreme sport nut. He has gotten Meg involved in so many outdoor activities, that I never in my wildest dreams imagined her doing (rock climbing, canoeing, overnight backpacking, skiing, cross country skiing, snoshoeing, and shooting). We have been so blessed by God for our children and son-in-law. We are members at Gallatin Gateway Community Church. I have been a council member as a deacon, and elder. I have been a Cadet counsellor, taught Sunday School for 15 years, and been involved in a number of couples Bible studies and mens studies.
