Alan's Story
After graduating from Sanborn, Dave Tebo, Bob Waterman and I joined the Army on the buddy system. However once we got to Ft.Dix N.J. for basic training, I never saw them again until a class reunion many years later. Went to FT Knox Ky. then shipped out to Korea. Next tour was in Germany, I played for the 7th Corps football team and we won the European Championship. The General was a happy camper and gave us time to go all over Europe. The dollar was strong back then and we had a really good time.Came back to the states in late December 64 and got a full ride to play football in Arizona in the fall of 65. While running down the sideline during a game , I was tackeled out of bounds and ran over the head cheerleader. I looked down at her and asked her if she was all right. She said yes. ay a lot of racquet ball, enjoy golf, go 4 wheeling back in the mountains, treasure hunting all over the country, and I like to fly. Some of you will remember my Dad was in the Army and we went to live in the territory of Alaska back in the early 50"s. I always wanted to go back, so in 1983 I flew my plane up there going through Dawson Creek and Whitehorse in the Yukon, over Northway, the Alaska pipeline, into Anchorage, up to MT. McKinley, Fairbanks, the Artic Circle and back home. It was a memorable trip. Took me 56 hours of flying time.I have owned a number of planes over the years and have flown to the four corners of the U.S., Mexico and Canada. I have been in the Financial Services industry for 40 years, and still work a few days a week just to keep up on things. I take my 91 year old mother back to N.H. every summer for a couple of months and really enjoy it, but I don't think I could take the winters any more. I hope there are many more chapters to come and look forward to living life on the fun side.
