Life
Update 9/20/07:
Quick update to say that I am alive and well. I've cut my hair, have a full time job as a Software Engineer at Thomson West, live in Eagan, take backpacking trips to Utah for my vacations, but otherwise I am very similar to what I was like before... only probably a bit more outgoing than I was in highschool. :)
Sorry if you have signed my guestbook and I haven't done anything about it. I have the free version of this service so I can't actually see who signed it or what they said.
Anyway, A few changes have happened to me since high school as IÂm sure they have for everybody else. To be brief, IÂll condense it to the big thingsÂ
IÂve had three lung surgeries due to spontaneous pneumothoraxÂs, IÂm not married nor do I have any children that I am aware of, I spent a semester studying abroad in England, IÂve got long hair (liable to change without notice), and IÂm finally nearly completing my college career. There are, however, some things that have stayed the sameÂ
IÂm still driving the first car I bought, IÂm still gangly, and I still live in PI during the summers.
I guess that pretty much covers my life so far. ItÂs not all that interesting to live it, so I canÂt imagine it would be any more interesting to read about it; thus the brevity of the list. Anyway, thanks for coming here to read about my life! Hope yours is treating you well! Later.
College
I love the suggestions for this sectionÂ
ÂRevisit your college daysÂ
Â. ItÂs hard to revisit something you are still living in/with/whateverÂ
well, except old days I guess. But anyway, I am currently in my last year at MSU, Mankato. I have spent nearly five years in this institution trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life. I finally ended up choosing Computer Information Science. ItÂs a good fit for someone who doesnÂt like a lot of manual labor. I have a minor in Photography.
As a note to anyone who may still be in school somewhere, Study Abroad! Despite sounding cliché, it is one of the best experiences you will ever haveÂ
in college at least. I spent a semester in Alnwick, England and I have to say I loved it. It actually didnÂt help me at all with cred...Expand for more
its for my major or minor, but I got a few generals from it, and a crap load of memories.
So thatÂs about it for college news. Oh, I will be graduating in December of 2005.
Workplace
Work; There's nothing else quite like it.
Why would anyone want to know about my past/present work history? I guess this is just more of a way to relieve 5 years of stress by venting about job horrors and such. However as there may actually be someone who is reading this who really would want to know what work I've been doing, this is for you.
My first job was at the newly opened PI A&W. I flipped burgers. Did that for about a year and a half. Once that was over it was off to PI Fiesta Foods (that's the former name of Bruce's Food Pride to anyone who didn't already know). I stocked the shelves and washed the floors. This didn't keep me interested very long. I think I held that job for a few months at most. Finally after graduation in '99 I was able to get a job at the Mayo Clinic working with a piece of Simulation Modeling Software called MedModel. I stayed at Mayo for the next 5 years (summers only). Each year I was given other duties such as web development and other miscellaneous IT jobs. It was a pretty good job, but it wasn't an internship, which was a requirement for college Graduation. This led me to search for a more programming-oriented job. I tried at several places in Spring '04, but filed to get any takers. Finally in Spring '05 I was offered a co-op position at IBM doing programming. This is where I am today. In fact, I'm writing this in my office (not cubical!) because it is a Friday afternoon and I don't have much of anything to do.
That covers my entire work history with the exception of the part time job I had my entire college career (during school months) which was driving a 15 passenger van around campus. It's sort of a campus cab service, mainly for lazy people and drunks. Seriously what do they expect, it's called the "Red Eye Shuttle" for crying out loud. Anyway, it was a fun but seriously annoying job. Met a lot of interesting people if nothing else!
Okay, now I am really done. If you are still reading this I hope you were not disappointed!
