Life
Since graduating from Simon Gratz High School in 1957, I have received a B.S. Degree in Elementary & Special Education, Certification in:Reading (as a Reading Specialist), Supervision, and Educational Administration. I hold a M.S. Degree in Education and have attained 18+ Credits toward a Doctorate.
I was married and have two sons. My eldest son was born 9/9/61 and my youngest 7/7/63. The oldest,Jay,has two children and the youngest, Eric, has one child (making me a grandmother). I am a Great-grandmother also. I have taught Kindergarten through Eighth grades (in North Philadelphia)and since 1995, have served as an Elementary School Principal. ad the opportunity to work in many areas of my chosen profession. I'm the kind of teacher I wish I'd had and have worked to develop the kind of school I wished I'd attended--right here in North Philadelphia. I've had the opportunity to work with two of our former classmates--James Bagley and Norris Jenkins. Don Jose Stovall was--and still may be-Director of Public Assistance in Philadelphia. I haven't kept in touch with other classmates for years. Gladys Brown Speed is married and moved to Florida several years ago. I understand that Ethel Green passed away quite a while ago. Norris Jenkins is married to Cecelia Ballard. She retired many years ago.
I have recently returned to part-time service with the School District.
