Julie's Story
Moved a lot when I was young and have lived in a handful of states. Settled in NM as my favorite. Graduated early from High School after having minor surgery at the base of the brain - a couple of times. Later attended UNM off and on majoring in Biology, and later majoring in Criminal Justice with honors, while also working full time.
Have had a lot of jobs, mostly because I had worked two or three at a time while also doing volunteer work. Have been a Police Officer, an Electronics Physical Analyst, Entertainment and Sports Security Guard Supervisor, Semi-Pro Downhill Mountain Bike Racer, Disc Jockey, Wildlife Rehabilitator, Musician, and Special Sheriff's Deputy Commissioner. Retired from the Fed.Gov. after 30 yrs.
I have had a small home business and also a small internet business. I have produced a Progressive Rock podcast, called "Progkast", since 2016. I have produced a radio show called "Prog Rock Nation", since 2017, and a Classic Metal show, called Meglithic Metal, since 2022. FM Las Cruces - lccommunityradio.org) since 2016. Other avocations; Played Highland snare drum in a bagpipe band for several years, as well as playing drums in an alternative rock band. Have contributed writings to a local literary magazine, as well as a classic motorcycle magazine. Have competed in several sports including Soccer, Basketball, Softball, Tennis, Karate, Downhill Mtn Biking, Darts, and Scottish (Celtic) Highland Heavy Athletics (Throwing).
This year I am not only competing in some Scottish Athletics, but also the Senior Olympic Games in the field events. I may be older, but I can still move. This line comes to mind from The Beatles' "Revolution 9" - "..As time went by, they'd get a little bit older and a little bit slower..." Slower, but not stagnant. :O
PS - I have had a few people contact me, that they know me. Apparently, they are getting me mixed up with Julie Luft. No, I am not she. And no, I am not a Dr. Julie was an acquaintance and fellow soccer team member. She was a Forward, I was the Goalkeeper. She now resides in Georgia.
