Sam's Story
Life
Once I graduated from Germantown High School/Urban Career Education Center in Philly 1976 I joined the Air Force . I retired from the AF at the end of 1996 after serving 20 years. My career in the military was in communications. I served as a Computer and Telephone Systems technician. My travels in the AF were very extensive. I was stationed at MacDill AFB Tampa, FL., Hurlburt AFB, Ft. Walton Beach FL., Sembach AB Germany, Davis Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ., Keflavic, Iceland, and Robins AFB, GA. I also spend temporary duty in Egypt, England, Spain, Korea, Japan, Greece, Italy, and coast to coast in the USA. Traveling really opened my eyes to the world around us and made me really appreciate living in the USA. Traveling helped me decide to stay in, I loved it. I have met so many people that have either inspired me, or just came into my life and taught me something different from what I was use to, and I thank God for allowing me live through all the experie...Expand for more
nces that I have witness on this planet. If I had the chance to do it again, I would jump all over it. After the military I still work in communications. I worked for GTE (Verizon) for a few years as a Field Support Technician. I worked for the Hospital in Middle Georgia as a Telecommunication Technician. I worked for Verizon/MCI/Worldcom for 11 years. I also started my own company for a short period servicing telephone systems for private companies, but I was overwhelmed being a sole proprietor and closed the business. Presently I am with Veterans Administration (VA) as a IT Specialist in Network Services.
I have been married now for over 30 years to a beautiful black woman that I met while stationed in Germany and we have 2 wonderful daughters. Presently I am residing in Middle Georgia 90 miles south of Atlanta and I now call it home.
