Daniel's Story

Life Married Barbara Morgan of Warwick, RI (born in Flushing, NY) in September 1978 in Salt Lake City, UT. We have 7 children (Bonnie - 32, Rachael - 30, Megan - 28, Marissa - 26, Jeanne - 24, Daniel III - 23, and Michael - 21). Two of our daughters (Bonnie and Megan) graduated April 2010; Bonnie from BYU-Idaho with a B.S.R.N. and Megan from BYU-Hawaii with B.A. cum laude in two majors, Anthropology specializing in International Studies and Art specializing in Photography. Bonnie was married to Spencer Rivas on December 12, 2003 in Boston, MA., and has four of our grandchildren, Samuel Aaron Rivas (born June 17, 2005), Natali Raquel Rivas (born May 9, 2008), and the twins, Olivia Ann Rivas and Jonathan Anthony Rivas (born April 29, 2011). She works in labor & delivery at Mountain View hospital in Idaho Falls. Spencer manages a local restaurant. Megan has not made up her mind whether to seek a career or continue her education with a Master's program in conflict resolution (her dream would be Brandeis University in Boston, MA). Currently she is living with her sister, Jeanne in Nampa, ID. Jeanne was married to Paul Crossley of Boise, ID in San Diego, CA on July 14, 2007 and has given us two grandchildren, Carter Douglas Crossley (born February 22, 2009), and Colvin Harris Crossley (born August 21, 2011) . She and Paul are attending Boise State while working for two different hospitals (St. Luke's and St. Alfonso's) in the Boise area. Also, they purchased a home in Nampa, ID just before Christmas 2009. Marissa graduated with her B.S. in sports medicine in July, 2009, and is currently working in Cranston, RI while also working to coach the cheerleading program at Warwick Veteran's high school in Warwick, RI. The same program she went through in her growing years. She also has a boy friend who was a year ahead of her at the same high school. Joe is a teacher with a degree in mathematics and engineering, as well as a teaching certificate. He has left coaching to referee wrestling matches in Rhode Island and Massachusetts. This fall Marissa has been accepted into the school of Nursing at Rhode Island College. Daniel III is living in Rhode Island and working for Thermo King Northeast out of Boston. He graduated from WYO Tech in Diesel mechanics and body fabrication in June 2009 and his first employer, Detroit Diesel sent him to refrigeration school in Atlanta, GA. This past year he broke up with his girl friend of five years. He is still trying to get over the breakup. In the meantime, he has bought a power boat, a truck, and a motorcycle. Lots of toys. Michael is now in Warwick, RI and working two jobs (Inskip Motors and YUR health supplements). He attended one term at BYU-Idaho, and is currently undecided as to what will come next. He is currently in a relationship with a young lady from Warwick, RI. As of October 2009, we moved to Ammon, ID (bordering on the east side of Idaho Falls, ID). Throughout our married life we have lived in New London, CT; Groton, CT; Denbigh, VA; Bangor, WA; San Diego, CA; Oceanside, CA; Longview, WA; Warwick, RI (as well as Gree...Expand for more
nville, RI), and Idaho Falls, ID; we spent the majority of our time in RI (13 years). I completed my work on the Bruce Power 1 & 2 Refurbishment/Restart project for RCMT, Canada which started for me in April 2007. I spent 10 years in the navy as a reactor operator on submarines, then went to work for SCE at San Onofre Nuclear Generating station for 6 yrs. We made a choice to leave southern California, and I went to work for Portland General Electric only to be laid off 9 months later. Since 1993 I have contracted my services to various utilities around the nation (Texas, Maine, North Carolina, Michigan, Connecticut, New York, Louisiana, Nebraska, Tennessee, Mississippi, and Ontario, Canada) and a stint with Idaho National Labratories outside of Idaho Falls, ID. Barbara has been a full time mother for most of our married life, but as our children grow older she has worked as a home care pediatric nurse, rehab nurse in a Rehabilitation hospital, and surgical/medical floor nurse in various hospitals throughout Rhode Island. Since our move to Idaho she worked for EIRMC (med/surg), and Mountain View (ReadiCare) hospitals in Idaho Falls until after she was diagnosed with cancer in January 2008. During these times Barbara has faced new challenges. She was working at EIRMC (Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center) on the med-surg floor until she blew out two vertebrae in her thoracic region. She was then working at the RediCare centers (2) for Mountainview hospital until she was diagnosed with Thyroid cancer (January 2008). She spent most of the next 18 months going through operations and radiation treatments. She was pronounced cancer free in May 2009. She spent much of her time aiding in the care of our two grandchildren, when she is not busy with community projects. In October 2010, she joined me in Ontario, Canada. We spent Christmas 2010 with our children in Rhode Island (Marissa, Danny, and Michael). In March this year, Barbara returned to Idaho Falls, ID to undergo surgery that she had put off for over a year, and then after her recovery, she helped Bonnie with her delivery of the twins in April. She spent tie in August and September in Nampa, ID to help Jeanne with the arrival of Colvin. She joined me again towards the end of September, and left Canada in November with the help of our daughter, Rachael. I joined them in Ammon, ID by December 22nd. I finished the job in Tiverton, Ontario, Canada doing EQ evaluations of safety equipment for the Bruce Power 1 & 2 Restart project. This is the first project of its type (refurbishing and restoring to service an older nuclear power plant). We should restart Unit 2 and sync it to the electrical grid before the early in 2012. they will bring Unit 1 on the line within three months of Unit 2. Currently I am working on my eldest daughter's basement (1601 sq ft). We are finally at the point of doing trim and doors. The mud and tape was completed almost a week ago. After that we still have paint and flooring to do. Next Saturday we will be doing the tile in the downstairs bathroom (bathtub/shower stall) and the floor.
