Gregory's Story

Life Moved to Austin 2 days after graduating UN-L in December 1991. Have a wife, a home and 4 cats. Started with the State of Texas in 1994 at the Texas Railroad Commision as a paralegal. Was not certified as a paralegal, underpaid and overworked. Needed more out of life, went to Grad School at night, got a Master's degree in Legal Studies and Legal Administration, Dec. 1999. Have been with the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts since Mar. 2000. Currently a Program Specialist IV in the Open Records Section of the agency, answering Open Records (Freedom of Information) Requests, doing legal research and working on special projects. Have a website, bisonwerks dot com, that is dedicated to the sculptor Lee Lawrie, who made the Sower and all of the other sculptures in and around the Nebraska State Capitol. Am currently working on a book about the sculpture program at the Nebraska Capitol and Lawrie. Following publication of that book (once finished) I will write another book chronicling Lawrie's other work across the nation. Will be visiting Washington D.C. in April 2006 to review the Library of Congress' archives of Lawrie's works, and performing scholarly research and photography while there for the second book. bies include writing, photography, woodworking, gardening, bicycling, music of all kinds, guitar, harmonica, videography, and film. Extremely happy in my life. Married to the best woman ever born, I think--at least the right one for me. My BA was in Political Science and somewhere here in Texas a village is missing it's idiot. But seriously, folks, Bush is so dumb that, well, the punchline for this joke changes daily. I plan to be real busy in the last decade before I retire, and then, with a little luck, I will accellerate my career as an author. Hey, I have the education that I got after treading water for nearly 20 years in dead-end jobs. It's funny in a way, whenever I used to voice my opinion, all of these jerks that I used to work for, either at Kawasaki or at the Railroad used to say, "You're not gettin paid to think!" But now, some 20 years later, I actually AM getting paid to think, and finally gaining some degree of a middle class life-style. Not that there is much of a middle class left these days. Anyway, I love my wife and my life and my cats and music and Margaritas and Tex-Mex food and I am not morbidly obese in spite of it all. Looking forward to hearing from old friends. Later, Greg
