Sharon's Story

Life I have been happily married for 33 years and raised two sons, Chris (30) and Todd (27). We moved to Florida in l980. For most of my married life I have been a housewife. The biggest surprise in my life is the fact that I have been singing in clubs and at parties for the past 26 years with my husband. It took him 12 years to get me on stage with him. I was so shy and had absolutely no confidence in myself. After a couple sips of Drambuie the stage fright disappeared and the rest is history. It is a fun part time job. I am looking forward to hearing from many of you soon. Best regards, Sharon (Allen) DeMakes Since my last writing 3 years ago alot has been happening in my life. August 13,2004 our town was hit by Hurricane Charlie. My mother's house was damaged and made unliveable. She has been living with us since then, but in the meantime she lost her sight due to a rare disease called Temporal Arteritis in July of 2005. Her house is still not completed. My husband and I retired from the entertainment business so that I can take care of her. She is doing remarkable for what she has been through at 87 years of age. Well, I want to wish many of you who are reading this a belated happy 60th birthday. My turn is February of this year. Happy New Year.....Sharon 5/8/10 Hope those who read this are all healthy and happy. My mother just celebrated her 90th birthday. She is doing amazingly well. I'm not a grandma yet...only have granddogs..lol Life is good and we really have enjoyed living down here the last 30 years. If you can read this...get off your lazy butts and drop me a line..lol April of 2016 Hope all are we...Expand for more
ll. My mom passed away in January of 2015. She was almost 95. She was a grand lady and I miss her very much. Our oldest son, Chris, wrote me a song and presented it to me last Christmas 2015. He produced this song in a studio in Gainesville, FL. that one of his band members owns. Chris has been in the band "Less Than Jake" for 23+ yrs and travels all over the world. This song is supposed to be me talking to my Mom about the eleven years I took care of her. Please go to utube and put in "I'll Be Your Eyes" by Chris DeMakes and after watching the video, scroll down and read my son's letter. He wrote and performed this song from his heart. It is all for a good cause. Don't laugh at the pictures of me from the past until now. Sincerely, Sharon (Allen) DeMakes August of 2016 I hope this note finds all of you happy and healthy. I just wanted to say that I am FINALLY going to be a Grandma. It only took me to be almost 70 yrs. old. Our oldest son, Chris (42), is the proud father-to-be. The little guy is due December 16th. He is gonna "rock". Chris is still in his Band and is preforming in Mexico City as I write this. We can't wait for the baby to arrive. Our other son, Todd, and his wife are unable to have children. It is such a shame because they would be wonderful parents. His wife was a nanny for triplets, while Todd attended NC State on a baseball scholarship. My husband, Doug, and I hooked up with Karin (Ruskin) Dillabough and Bill Winters this past May and had a wonderful time. Bill lives near us. Can't wait for Karin to come back down again. Quite a number of alumni live down here in Florida. Happy 70th to my classmates....my turn is in February. Regards, Sharon (Allen) DeMakes
