Karen's Story
Life
Over the years since graduating from Miami Palmetto, I graduated from Virginia Intermont College. Married my college sweetheart,Ray Belcher after his return from Vietnam in 1970. Moved to Daytona Beach where he graduated college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. There we gave birth to our daughter Katherine. I worked as Assistant Convention and Tourism Director for Daytona Beach Area Chamber of Commerce for 9 years till we adopted our sons David and Michael. I quit working for the Chamber and began Ray's and my career of parenting newborn foster babies. to the Atlanta Ga area where we still reside. Katherine has twins (B/G) that are 6 years old and a 10 month old baby girl. David has a daughter Abagail and Michael has a daughter Alexis. I have been volunteering at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in the First Steps Program(mother-baby). Recently my daughter Katherine and I were awarded the state recognition of the Rebecca Cheatham Award for volunteer of the year Children's Trust Fund of Georgia. My husband has retired from the Army Reserves. He recently returned from a 12 month mission in Afghanistan with Operation Enduring Freedom.
We are active in our church.. St. Judes Episcopal Church.
He is still with Federal Aviation Administration in Atlanta.
