Thomas's Story
Let's see.....
A long long time ago, in a galaxy far, far, away...
After graduation I went to West Point. Graduated with a degree in Environmental Engineering. Then spent 9 years on Active Duty with the Army as a Combat Engineer. Went to Fort Leonard Wood, MO; Germany, and Fort Lewis, WA. Had a great time, blew a bunch of stuff up and got to play with big toys. Learned that everywhere in the world had something to offer. German food and beer both rock. Pacific NW microbrews rock (Pacific NW bagels and pizza, however do not.)
Went to grad school. Woo-hoo. Got my Grad Degree in Engineering Management. Took a class in Marketing, and did a Market analysis on Guinness. Took a class in Geo-statistics. I can truly say that I understood that subject for only four hours. Luckily those four hours coincided with the final exam.
After the Army I got out and stayed in the great state of WA. Why? NO HUMIDITY IN THE SUMMERS!!! That and the rain in the winters is self-shoveling. I am living jus...Expand for more
t outside of Tacoma, WA. Get to go to Seattle when the Yanks are in town, and to Portland for the nearest NY style Pizza.
Got Married, had a son, got unmarried. My son (Hunter) is awesome. He is 10, smart, and funny (but I may be a tad biased). But he does love the Yanks and the G-Men.
Stayed in the Army Reserves. Got an all expense paid tour to Iraq. Spent a year as an embedded advisor to an Iraqi Army Battalion. Not a bad gig if you ignore some folks shooting at you, and other folks trying to turn you into a fine red mist. Learnd a few things: Iraqi rice is surprisingly good; 135 degrees, no matter how dry the heat, is freaking hot; and IEDs hurt.
Currently I am working for the Government as a civilian. I worked as a military construction project manager for the Army Corps of Engineers. I just took a job with Fort Lewis Public Works as an Environmental Program Manager. My next job will hopefully entail scantily clad women, and good beer.
Hope you are all doing well. Drop me a line.
