Life When I graduated from high school in '92, the last thing I wanted to do was to become a teacher. This probably stems from the fact that nearly everyone in my family is in education -- mom's a principal, dad's a superintendent, aunt's a coordinator at the state level, granddad was an ATC instructor-- SO, I went to college at JD and then USM Gulf Coast and ended up with a degree in psychology and a minor in business. Since the whole working-with-mental-patients thing was not very appealing, I focused on IO psychology and went into human resources, working at casinos in the meantime. Eventually I ended up taking a position with Kelly Services, where they had just begun a new program called "Kelly Educational Staffing", and they needed a supervisor who had some experience. Hm. Well, given what I mentioned before PLUS my three years of subbing (ya, at one point in college I had like 4 jobs at a time to help mom pay for school-- sub, bartender, Avon rep, etc.) I did just fine with this.
