Susan's Story

As I sit here and try to think about what to write, I am amazed at how quickly time passes. It seems like it was just yesterday that I walked the halls of WT with a signed blank pass or with the attendance lists (thank God that the computers were enormous or we would have never got to do that!) or just walked the halls praying not to get caught! Chocolate milk and Hostess apple pies at break and mashed potatoes at lunch! Does anyone remember the day the teachers went on strike and we went to the beach and played football? I had no clue what I was doing, but man we had a blast! The magazine campaign assemblies were always so much fun. Specially senior year when hairdressing started the "fight" with electrical. All those times sneaking out to Wedge Inn for bacon, egg, & cheese sandwiches for breakfast. The Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners every year. Or for those in hairdressing the tea and toast at the Smith house and the time Mrs. Clayburn caught me saying "Where's Hattie?" I thought I was toast, but she told me that if I felt I could handle the responsibility of calling her Hattie, then I could. I never did call her that again. All those fire alarms pulled while we were wrapped in perm rods or pulled through frosting caps and had to go outside! Ahhh! Or how we would get the ...Expand for more
rolling stools and connect them to make a train and go flying through the shop? OMG that was so much fun! Freshman year having Doc for english and all of his crazy things he would do and say. "Miss Gum, Miss Wright Tech, Miss Shake-Behind!!!" Does any one still remember--"Where you going Lomie Carter so early over the snow? What's them pretties you have in your hand and where you aimin' to go?"????? Well for all those that do remember and those who remember me, thanks for all the fun times we've had. In the present I am a responsible adult. I live about 15 minutes north of New Haven, CT. I have been happily married for almost 18 years and I am the mother of a 15 year old daughter who is a high school sophomore. She is nothing like me! She is a great kid, we are so blessed, but we have a dog that is a spoiled brat! I gave up hairdressing about 6 or 7 years ago, I went to school in 2006-2007 to became a medical assistant. I am now working in a doctor's office taking patient's vitals, prepping them for the doctors, drawing blood, and oh yeah, lots of paperwork. There is a group of us on facebook, so come and check us out! Facebook is great and it is free! Well, that is pretty much it. Thanks for taking the time to check out the novel I just wrote. I hope you enjoyed it. Ciao! XO Susan
