Norm's Story
Life
Kids? Five of them, when they all get home ... 11.5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren. Which sort of rules out "choppers", doesn't it? I have a modest travel trailer which I pull with a Sonoma Crew-Cab 4x4 - that's about as sexy as it gets.
Currently, busy with: curling; activities in the Ionic Lodge (Ancient, Free and Accepted Masons, North Battleford); writing (mostly e-mail); woodwork (sporadically); grandchildren.
School
Happiest and craziest school memories? C'mon ... this was Edam High School and it was the 50's! Happy? We were happy to have a football, and you can bet that we made sure it was not under us when we were tackled, 'cause we weren't likely to get another one. Never saw a basketball. Volleyball, yes.

s returning ('53), we knew that meant a solid "education", whether we liked it or not. Makes me smile to remember how nice he was to us the first time that Superintendent Harry Smith visited.
Mr. Smith walked out to the volleyball courst, hung his jacket on the post without saying two words, and began to play a very creditable game. When the bell rang, the stranger - for we had no idea who he was - put on his coat and walked into the school. When we came in, he was sitting in the back of the room with his little black book.
In '58-'59, it became easier to understand Mr. Kinash's nervousness - as a first-year teacher in St. Walburg, I had the pleasure of Harry's quiet visit. Pretty decent fellow, quite helpful ... hard, though, to keep one's voice level. Wonder what we thought he would do to us, with teachers so hard to find?
