Alice's Story
Teaching an learning has been the love of my life. I am a retired educator of 38.5 years. Can you believe I was actually able to be a middle school and high school principal. I was and loved the work and service to young people very much. My joy in teaching and learning has taken me to points all over the world enjoying sites and making presentations.
Education is important to me. At 52 years I could say I had spent half of my life in some kind of school. At 50 years old I received the doctorate of education in Educational Leadership from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. It was a first for my family and I considered it an honor to be determined enough to be the first...but not the last. It was important for...Expand for more
me to pave a path for family members and friends.
Read my book titled: We Fly Away (Barnes and Noble). Having grown up in a single-parent family, it is a tribute to my father who was the all and all to my six siblings and me. We all have stories and many times our stories are what save us from adversities. Our stories help us to remember where we have been, where we are and where we hope to go...with our grandchildren and love ones. Our stories are, sometimes, painful ways of detailing our own history. I am in the process of writing a book now on the Academic Achievement Gap between our young people and their peers. After losing my mate in 2008, writing has become away of life for me.
Writing keeps me sane without the pain.
