Neva's Story

Life Hello from Angel Song. That's the name of my place in Red Rock Texas. It's just me now. My husband passed away 10/13/2010 and our daughter, Renee, passed away 10/2/05. We raised Axis and Fallow deer and Black Buck antelope some years ago. Our land was needing a break to recover from all the grazing, so we sold them. Now I'm just raising miniature dachshunds. I've always had dogs of one sort or another, but in the past several years my heart was captured by the doxie. They are wonderful, happy little clowns. I want to raise and find good homes for lots and lots of puppies and spread the joy. That said, it's important that I note that I do not run a puppy mill. I have only 2 dams that I breed and we only have 1 or 2 litters a year - tops! My doxies are Lily, Toby, Herbie, Romeo, Jake, Carley, Eli, ShyAnne, Scrappy and Baby Bob. My pups have really seen me through some dark days and I'm so thankful for each and every one of them. I also have an Anatolian Shepherd/Great Pyrenees mix dog, Titus. He is my guard out here in the country. He's SO magnificent! You'll probably think I'm very boring. I just love being at home with my pups. Leaving here for any reason is excruciating! lol Hopefully I've retired from the rat race for good. I worked for 26 years. Eight at Wide-Lite in San Marcos, and 18 at Progressive Insurance in Austin. It was only for paychecks. That's no way to live. I never really felt I had any calling or direction career wise. I just wanted to stay home and be a wife & mom. After taking a break for health reasons, my husband resumed his 17 year career...Expand for more
working for Texas veterans with Texas Workforce. This is something he was VERY passionate about. He was honored for that passion at his funeral. Eventually, his health issues required he retire early. We didn't even get to enjoy his retirement a year before he passed away. We would have celebrated our 30th anniversary 3/21/2011. I miss him so much, but I know he's at peace now. I'm hopeful, thankful & ready for whatever God has in store for me. Our daughter, Renee, lived to be 20 years old. She had a form of autism called Asperger Syndrome. She was in special ed, but graduated on time. The plan was to take some time off to just rest at home after graduating High School and then get assistance with the folks at Texas Rehab to "find her way". They would have provided testing, training and job placement. She never got past the testing stages. She was in a one car roll over accident on 9/16/05 that left her with severe head injuries. She was in ICU until 9/27, then was transported to hospice care when we knew there was no hope. She had the softest, sweetest heart I have ever known and she will be greatly missed for the rest of my life. One thing I've learned from my life experiences is that God keeps his promises. 2 Cor 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." I've really held on tight to this promise. Anyone who knows me knows how weak I am and circumstances in my life have certainly put this promise to the test. The good news is that He has NEVER failed me. Love never fails though, right? Thanks for stopping by. Hope I hear from you all.
