Life
Graduated from BSTC in "63. Taught in Indiana for 2 years then went to Guam for 35 of next 37 years--1966-2003. I taught in Guam for a number of years; became active in Guam Federation of Teachers {AFT-AFL-CIO}. Held position of President of GFT and later Executive Director of union with over 1500 members. Negotiated over 20 contracts for government workers in Guam {teachers, professors, school aides, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, and commercial port workers}.
Held position as organizer and lobbyist for Hawaii Federation of Teachers and Oregon Federation of Teachers {1973-75}.
Attended law school in Hawaii 1983-87. Received J.D. degree and passed bar in Hawaii and Guam. Practiced law in private sector from 1987--94. Employed as Assistant Federal Public Defender from 1994-2001. Appointed by Ninth Circ...Expand for more
uit Court of Appeals as first Federal Public Defender for Guam. {2001-2003}. Retired August 2003 and moved to Oregon.
I was active in sports in Guam. Charter member of Guam Running Club. Most active as soccer player, organizer, official. Played in regular leagues; not age group until age 57. About with cancer in 1998 has slowed me although I played in age group soccer aginst team from Japan in 2002. I was coach for Guam South Pacific Games teams in Athletics {1971 Tahiti} and soccer {1991 Papua New Guinea}.
Raised 4 children on Guam. Now have children {4}, stepchildren {3} and grandchildren {8} scattered from Hawaii to Georgia. First marriage to college sweetheart lasted 30 years. Have been remarried for almost 11 years.
I have had the privilege to live some of the most beautiful of areas created by God.
