John's Story
Been in Law Enforcement since 1977. I'm currently the Sheriff for McKenzie County Sheriff's Department in Watford City ND. Can retire in 2010 but still working . Certified as Public Safety Diver/ Fireman/ EMT/ and Law Enforcement Officer . President of the Board and Firefighter in the Local Fire Department. .Retired from the local Boy Scouts as a Scoutmaster. Wife (Brenda) is a Nurse at the local Hospital. 5 kids, No one at home now. Youngest in College and the rest working. I'm a Grandpa with a little boy "Joseph". In Gods way, It's not how long you live on this Earth, it what you do during your time.
Retired 12-312014. Found out had pancreatic cancer in April of 2015. Went through chemo,chemo radiation treatment and then surgery. Had some complications so spent close to two months total at Mayo with surgery and obstruction of bowels. In recovery trying to get back to a normal health. Doctors say my cancer is in remission. Have to go back to Mayo every 4 months for the next two years for follow up. Praise be to God for giving this time with family and friends .
