Roger's Story
Hello to all of you that know me..
Here's my story,so here it goes.
Our family moved from Braxton in 1984 to Fredericksburg Va,where I worked for a retired dairy farmer on and off for 15 years,as well as working for his nephew who operated a dairy farm himself. In 1988 I left the farming industry to try something different,so I applied at the local Food Lion grocery store and was hired to bag groceries.
After several weeks I was promoted to the "cutting crew",responsible for processing and pricing all goods to be sold on their shelves.Soon after that I was promoted to a full time stocker, then Grocery Manager,Assistant Manager, and Finally Store Manager.
I left the company full time in 1993 to try other jobs like being Schwan's Ice cream salesman, worked for Leggett clothing Stores, worked for an Engineering Consultation firm which handled accounts in the Fredericksburg, and Northern /Va. areas.I also worked for a company that filter serviced air handelers in grocery chains and traveled through out all of North Carolina and Virginia, and in West Virginia. I met my wife of 7 years now, at Food Lion(she still works th...Expand for more
ere) and I have two beautiful twin girls. We lived in Ashland,Va. until 2003,and in mid 2003 we moved in to the country.I now live in Bumpass,Va.(Yeah,I know,Bumpass!!) I have opened my own business and have been farming on a small scale and also contract landscaping as well.I still work for Food Lion, but only on a part time basis.
I put my name in this high school year book out of sheer curiosity and hope to hear some responses from some of the people I used to know when I went to school in Braxton.

Although I live in another state,my heart sincerely belongs in West Virginia.I miss the home place alot, and think of it constantly.Better said by Tim Mcgraw"I Miss back when"
My grandmother(now in her 90's) still lives on the farm at Canoe Run that my Grand dad had before he passed on and is blessed to have some of the finest folks you will find by her side like My Uncle Steve and Aunt Cathy and their family, and my Uncle Max and Aunt Sharon.
I hope you read this,as poorly written as it is and find some reflection in your past that you can cherish, as I do mine......
