Eileen's Story
Life
Eileen Bitterli Cavanaugh: After graduating from St. Joseph's Hill, I went to Wood Secretarial School in Manhattan. I have been fortunate enough to live in other states, including NJ, IL and GA, returning 13 years ago to where I now call my home in the state of New Jersey. I was married for 23 years, widowed 15 years ago and have 2 children, Meighan (33) and Matthew (27 - our big surprise). After graduating from the Wood School, I started working as a secretary in NYC and, while my current position falls within that title, I'm also the accountant, office manager, & executive assistant of a non-profit recreational marine trade association since I returned to NJ. I also work trade shows for the association. I'm currently putting my home on the market downsizing probably to a 55 & over community. I enjoy traveling, bowling, movies, good books, the beach and dabble in arts and crafts. The kids & I went to Ireland 9 years ago (found my Grandmother's childhood home)and I went back again with friends in 2006. On our first trip, we also went to London & Paris. My daughter spent her Jr. year of college in Paris (fine arts) and was our tour guide....Expand for more
She is now a Designer for Putnam Books, designing hard cover books. Five years ago I went on a Perillo tour of Italy with a friend, Milan to Pompeii. The winter before Katrina, I went on a 4 day cruise on the Mississippi with another 3 days in New Orleans. It breaks my heart what the hurricane did to that wonderful city. My son graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Univ. of RI & he's in aeronautical R & D. I've driven up to that wonderful State of RI several times. Newport is my favorite place to visit. I've been fortunate enough to be invited to go RV camping visiting the Amish country in Lancaster, PA Assateague State Park in MD where the horses & deer roam the campsites and the beach, and beautiful Cape May. I was afraid the confinement would not suit me, but we had a wonderful time. My friend & I went on a cruise to Nova Scotia & Quebec City last fall. It was our first and won't be our last. My skiing days ended years ago, but I bike ride and walk several miles a week. I'm in my 5th year of bowling and I'm finally showing some improvement. Please do not hesitate to contact me. I'd love to hear from my former classmates.
