Beverly's Story

Look me up on facebook Life After living in Seoul South Korea for a year 2004-2005 I am now in the northern part of Iraq 2005-2006. After my tour in Iraq, I will be stationed in Germany. I work for a humanitarian organization that has been serving the U.S. military since the civil war. And an organization that I dreamed of working for for a very long time. I enjoy living and working on the military base. My prayers were answered and I always wanted to work overseas, but... there really "there's no place like home" and family. I'm currently in Iraq proudly serving my military for 6 months (you know I have to go where it is warm in the winter as well as site seeing LOL) after Iraq I will be off to Germany for a few years proudly serving my military and my country. I missed my son and my family very much while in Korea and now that I am in Iraq. My son graduated from Downers Grove North High School also. "THERE'S NO PLACE LIKE HOME" but it is exciting to see the world! 2008-I'm back in the states living near my family. I missed them so much while I was away. I am planning on purchasing some land either in TN or KY have some horses. Maybe in a year or two it takes time. It is time to settle down and put down some roots after moving so much. My son is all grown up I'm proud of him. He is the best thing I have done in my life. My son has taught me more the I could ever teach him. I love him more then anyone or anything in the world. He is my joy. I'm finally putting down roots in my church again getting involved with my church which was something...Expand for more
I missed having a connection with a church family while I was moving around overseas. My faith is very important to me. While overseas there were some things that you would never know you could miss.Until you are away from them. I missed my daily life in the states, every day habits missed, even your favorite store, radio station, your car and putting gas in it. I drove other vehicles but, I missed my car, my belongings in storage, driving around the area which I use to lived you miss. And when you come back... it is all changed...nothing stays the same...The things you miss is interesting. The people you miss. This adventure has taught me to appreciate people places and things that I had not before. To remember make each day a memory, make the best out of each holiday, gathering, phone call, conversation and time spent with loved ones. Love and care for family and friends, appreciate them, the time is to short...you can't make the time back, when they are gone they are gone.. no going back....Accept your family and friends for where they are in life. That is what I learned while I was gone. I'm currently working as an addictions counselor, this was something I went to school for over 20 years ago. My work has been in the social services/mental health field. I enjoy it. I have a BA in Behavioral Sciences. If you want to write use my first and last name together and then attach it to hot mail. It's to bad there aren't to many old friends on this site. There is also a Downers Grove North Alumni site on the district 99 high school site.
