Ryan's Story
Life
I spent the last 6 months living half the time in Germany and half the time in the US for the auto industry. Now I'm transitioning to an executive position with a software startup firm in downtown Atlanta.
After Milton I went to GA Tech and got my bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering. While I attended GT I interned for Kimberly Clark and Visteon (20 Billion dollar car parts company). Also through GA Tech I did a study abroad trip to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, the Cook Islands, & Hawaii. After college I took the job offer from Visteon and designed Electronic Throttle Bodies for 2 years. Shortly after I graduated from college I moved to MI and bought a house in January of 2003. I worked as a quality engineer for both machining and die cast at the powertrain parts plant that I worked at. I have two cars. My 1993 Del Sol with aftermarket cam, ECU, 4-2-1 ceramic coated headers, custom stereo system, & with a D16 racing motor. Also I ported & polished the head, matched the intake, & installed a larger throttle body. It's at 200hp. Not bad for the little ca...Expand for more
r. Forged pistons, h beam rods, billet crank shaft. At 10 PSI 350 hp and at 20 PSI I'll see around 500hp. Also for my old viper blue Dodge Dart I have a 490 hp 490 lb/ft torque small block waiting for it. I am changing the engine setup to break 530 hp and it'll still run on pump gas. I'll run the 1/4 mile in under 11 seconds with both cars. Launch with ~1.8 G's of acceleration on the Dart and hit 0-60 in under 2.8 sec. In my spare time I am helping the GA Tech Future truck team with their electronic control system design for their hybrid Ford Explorer. I am launching my own tuner/ customs shop on the side around the mall of GA. I'm getting the equipment I need to program the fuel injection, red line, and VTEC activation points and customize my own timing and air fuel curves. In short I improve the performance of modified cars by reprogramming them. Since the Automotive industry was very unstable in MI I moved back to GA with a better Automotive company. I am a design/ test labs engineer. When the shop opens I'll prototype a new breed of cars that I hope to patent.
