Kelly's Story
Life
Dear Classmates,
I thought I'd let you know that I'm still around by updating my profile.
I live in Forsyth, Montana where I've lived for 21 years. I've been married, to the same person, for 23 years. We have a total of 5 children---who are all grown, employed and married with children. We have 13 grandchildren and 1 on the way. (It adds up fast when they arrive as doubles).
My husband has been employeed at the power plant in Colstrip for 27 years.
I went to college when my youngest son turned 6 and worked my fanny off earning my degree in registered nursing. I have been unable to work however, for 3 years, due to Huntington's Disease. A genetic "present" that my biological father gave to me before I was born. All 3 of my biological children have it as well. They're still able to work though. It's a terrible disease but we manage to keep a positive attitude---most of the time. We attend HDSA conventions and try to stay current on the latest treatments, etc. President Bush signed a bill the end of April making it against the law to disc...Expand for more
riminate against a person when it comes to employment or insurance benefits, based on genetic information. That doesn't mean I like him!
The FDA finally approved a drug called Tetrabenazine on Friday. It's the first drug available for symptoms related to HD.
My sister, Trina, and her husband, Jim, live and work in Indiana with their 2 teenagers. We keep in touch by phone and they're fine.
My parents retired in Twin Falls, Idaho and they winter in Yuma with all of the other cold blooded seniors.
My grandmother is in Overton, Nevada and at 94 she lives on her own and she's in great shape.
For fun, we load our Shih Tzu's into our R.V., as well as a grandchild or 2, then take off on a long road trip and argue about whether or not it's rude to pull into a KOA after dark.
I get to see the kids and grandkids on a regular basis, spending time with them is my favorite hobby.
I also like to write when I'm feeling up to it.
Well, that's a condensed version of what's been happening in my life.
Happy Trails..........
Sincerely,
Kelly Riach Harrington
