Linda's Story
Life
I am a mother of three grown children ranging from 33-29 yo. I have 5 grandchildren which I enjoy spending free time with. So far my life's accomplishments are, a career in cosmotology, Dental Assisting, and most currently in the Mental Health field. I provide mental health services for a government agency. I have been married, but I don't plan on returning to that status very soon. I have changed in the sense that as I grow older my priorities have changed to reflect the coming of my retirement. I believe that life has much to offer, and ignorance only keeps you from pushing forward. I have had many good things happen to me that can be celebrated, however, there have also been dark moments that have been faced, as with anyone. I feel that at this age, life has only begun. By continuing to seek new information and explore the world I can continue to grow, making life as full as possible.
School
My best school experience was learning how to play an instrument. In junior high (Killingsworth), I had a terrific teacher by the name of Gray. I guess I like him because my last name was also Gray. I loved being part of the Artesia high school band. Most people in general tho...Expand for more
ught we were geeks, but we had a pretty awesome group that had many things in common. I really didn't have a favorite teacher. I think that I basically like anyone who was willing to teach me. My life has and had taken a life of it's own after high school. I attended beauty college, graduated, and received a license. I then, after 9 years, attended dental assisting school, received my license. Then in 1990 I began classes at Riverside community college, graduated, followed by California State University of San Bernardino. Afterwards, I attended Chapman, received my MS, and finally, I have obtained my doctorate. Why? Because I can. I have recently acquired my MFT licensure. Who knows, someday you may be sitting in my chair.
My Travels
I have been to Hawaii, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kentucky, Neveda, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Tennesse, Ohio, Oregon, Mississippi, Kansas. And, I don't plan on stopping there. I intend to go to Italy, England, Tailand, Bahamas, Tahiti, Jamacia....maybe Africa.
What I plan on.....
I plan to write a book on Native American women of the North. I am positioning myself into the lecture circuit. In the future I want to do ethno-geographical studies.
