Robert's Story

Hello All, As most of you may remember, Donna Addison and I were married 3 months before I graduated from North Pike and I spent my last months working at Croft at night and going to school in the day. After graduation I worked as a brick mason with my father and it was not a bad life but with bad weather this is a hard life. I went in to the US Army and became a Nike Missile Repairman and this started a career in electronics for me. I started back to school and graduated with an Associate Degree from Calhoun Community Collage, then a BS in Management of Technology from Athens State Collage and a BS Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama, Huntsville, AL. I have three degres actually, "WHO" would have ever thought that, to include me LOL! I spent almost 14 years working with the Department of Defense Missile Command in Huntsville Alabama, and then went into the commercial DOD firms with Hughes Aircraft and had a great time as well as a great career. I retired in 1993 as a Quality Manager and have just done what I want to do since. I play a lot of pool and am a member and Team Captain on an 8-ball and a 9-ball team two nights a week in Huntsville, AL. I have been lucky in life and I went for the brass ring and got it. The only thing I regreat is that in that quest for that brass ring I did not pay as much attention to my family and especially my first love, and I lost that going for a career and money. I had to learn the hard way that money does NOT make you happy and I wish I had things to do over again. I guess that's water under the bridge and I'll never see those days again but the memory of a great woman and a great job will always be with me. For some reason I had a "Big Brother Complex with many of the girls and they would tell me things that only I (and their best friend) knew and I always kept it to myself. I always offered my support and friendship and ask if they wanted me to do any thing for them. I still remember all of you "Now" ladies but you are my friends and family too, after all we grew...Expand for more
up togeather. I have left McComb for Alabama for jobs that paid more and more and moved from Tucson AZ, LA, GA, MS, TN and a few more states but I always found myself moving back to the mountains and valleys and the rivers of North Alabama. I love to see the clearly defined seasons in the area and the trees when they turn orange, red and all the fall colors, the smell of fresh rain after an April shower, the crisp crackle of ice and snow of winter and there is no doubt as to when the seasons change for it is very clear and well defined. My home is on the side of a mountain out in the country and I can sit on the top and see Huntsville Alabama 25 miles away at night and enjoy the lights and the view. I enjoy my pistol range on the back patio and the rifle range for target shooting. I can go fishing any time in the TN River or Guntersville lake which is 750k acres at the largest part, play pool in my game room or go out at 2:00 am if I wish and do any thing. I guess I can say I have learned to enjoy life to it's fullest for as we are all learning, life is too short, enjoy it. If you are lucky enough to find a love that you are with now and have been with for as long, or longer, as I was married (1972-1997) then don't be a damn fool, like me, and lose her/him, for that is one mistake you only get one chance at. I was a womanizer and I'm glad I am no longer that way and I don't like the person I was when I think about it so I have only myself to blaim for being divorced. If I am luckey enough to find another good woman again, she will be treated right. As you heard all your life from your parents, "Listen to me for I too have made this mistake!", now I know what they meant. I hope the best to all and the best to all of those who I grew up with from Johnes Elemtary to Johnston Station through North Pike, for you are the people who I had the greatest years of my life with. To bad life has to get more complicated as we grow older, for those were the "Great" days. Love to all, and a long life too! Robert "Mack" McKlemurry
