Jeff's Story

Life After leaving Sunnydale, I spent a year and a half at Union College where I met Lauri, whome I later married. After our wedding, we moved back to my hometown in Kentucky where I learned the electrical trade and eventually earned my electrician's license. We had our first child at this time, Sharee, who was born with a severe brain injury. Eventually Sharee died and rests peacefully now, awaiting a better day, when she will be whole and will grow up in a perfect place without pain and suffering. After working in the electrical trade for a few years, we decided to move to Chattanooga Tennessee where I pursued a batchelors degree in religion. When I graduated, we moved to Michigan where I took up duties as the pastor of three small churches. By this time we had two more children, Nathan and Kaitlin. We all enjoyed the north woods environment, and Nathan still considers that area of the country to be his real home. We spent seven years in pastoral ministry, but somehow, I seemed to be the happiest and most effective when ministering to the sick and the hurting. Finally, we made the decision to make a change, and we moved to Berrien Springs Michigan so that I could get my master's of divinity degree at...Expand for more
the seminary at Andrews University. The purpose for this choice was to enable me to do what I had come to desire most, that was to become a certified chaplain. While here in Berrien Springs we added Luke to the brood. Now the house is about as full as it can get, so no more kids. We made the commitment to homeschool our children when Nathan reached the age to begin school. Lauri has been a wonderful teacher and soon Kaitlin, who is five now, will begin her studies. I expect to finish the M.Div.degree in may of 2007. I hope to find a chaplain position in an Adventist hospital, but since competition for positions is fairly stiff, we expect that we will need to move. We both like the idea of the New England states, but who knows, God may well have other ideas. Some of the interests that we have developed in our home include digital photography, computers, camping, and most recently, a great outdoor activity called geocaching. This is a sort of high-tech tresure hunting, where you use a GPS reciever to locate hidden caches. We all go treking through the woods in search of the next hidden "treasure". Well, that's the story in a nutshell. Feel free to e-mail me if you like. I would love to hear from you.
